3DS Max Ships Wheel

For my first attempt with 3DS Max I created a ships wheel using basic shapes.


To create the initial circular shape of the wheel I used the cylinder shape. Using the grid I could easily decide on the size of the cylinder and line the edges up with the grid.


When I was happy with the size I used the box shape to create the initial cross plank through the middle.
I did this using the same technique as the cylinder.

To make sure each cross plank was the same I cloned the initial plank and rotated each one by a set degree so they were all exactly the same.

This gave me the basic shape of a ships wheel.
